How to display your family photos - August heirloom album highlight | Albuquerque photographer

Updated: Aug 23, 2019

You have booked your family photography session and are excited to have someone else take pictures of all of you so your kids will know that you were part of the family as well (vs. behind the camera all the time). Of course you are excited to show off your beautiful images to all of your family and friends via social media, but hopefully you are considering displaying a few pieces of family art in your home to enjoy as well (and to preserve those precious memories to pass them on to your children one day).

Part of my photography service is an in person ordering appointment after your session to guide you through the different photography product options you have. As part of a little blog series I will introduce the products I offer for you to learn a bit more about. To make choices easy there will be samples for you to see and touch during your ordering appointment as well of course.

This weeks product highlight will focus on heirloom albums. Albums are a great way to preserve and display all of your favorite photography session images in one compact album. You can always have it right at hand to share with visitors or spend a little time as a family looking though your images. My daughter loves seeing pictures of herself when she was younger and hearing the stories that go along with it, and sitting down with an album you know they will own one day beats holding a little phone screen (and you know digital files won't survive forever!).

You can choose from a lay flat album or a matted album.

The lay flat album has ten seamless spreads (which equals 20 pages) on which your photographs will be printed on archival quality paper. Your favorite pictures can take up an entire spread if you like and others will be professionally arranged in a visually pleasing way.

The regular 10"x10" size has a 4"x4" add on option which makes for a great gift.

When we meet for your ordering session I will have a predesigned album ready for you to view. If you decide to invest in album we will finalize the design together, so you can decide which images you would like to include (if not all) and which you would like to highlight on its own page. Of course you can always add additional spreads if you like.

Here is an example of a ten spread lay flat album I designed for one of my recent in home newborn photography sessions.

The matted album will display your photographs individually in thick archival grade mats. Images are printed on archival quality paper and matted in handcrafted archival quality mats.

With either album you have an array of beautiful cover options to choose from.

If you love all of your photographs but do not have the space to frame each and every single one of them an album is a great choice. It's the perfect complement to a few framed photographs and keeps all of your images safe to enjoy for the rest of your lives. And if you're like me, there are few better things than sitting down with your loved ones and reminiscing about the past while looking at photographs.
